Meet Monica E.
What was life like before bariatric surgery?
I would hide from the camera, keeping my head down in hopes of not being noticed, and I could hardly walk because my knees were so bad. I needed knee replacements and had to lose a lot of weight to qualify for the surgery.
If you put off the decision to come in for a long time, why was that? What kept you from booking a consultation?
For over 5 years, I had considered weight loss surgery. I even had bypass surgery scheduled in 2017 but backed out. Needing the knee replacements pushed me to move forward with the surgery, along with the desire to be healthier and live a better life.
What was it like to work with the team from the start of your journey to today?
My journey with PWLC has been such a blessing. I was comforted, reassured, and prayed with before surgery, and I felt completely supported throughout the entire process. The entire team has been quick to respond to any and all questions I have, and they continue to do so to this day.
I sleep so much better. I am now in the process of getting a knee replacement on one side. I breathe better, and even my mental health has improved. I have more confidence. I no longer hang my head low, hoping not to be noticed, and I don’t mind pictures anymore.
I breathe better, and even my mental health has improved.
