Meet Misti
What was life like before bariatric surgery?
Before I started my weight loss journey I remember being tired and hurting all the time. My body would hurt from head to toe! I was unable to keep up with my 6 year old who is Autistic, and that was a huge problem. My clothes did not fit right and looking in the mirror, the person I saw was not the person I knew. It was a very dark time in my life. I was also on blood pressure medication & anti depressants. I was not living my life – I was just there.
If you put off the decision to come in for a long time, why was that? What kept you from booking a consultation?
My decision to have weight loss surgery was a pretty quick one. I had a few friends that had done it and seeing their results was very encouraging. I have tried every diet there is, I have done all the “tricks” and it never seemed to help. I have always struggled with weight and once I looked into surgery, I was set that this is what I was going to do for ME!!
What was it like to work with the team from the start of your journey to today?
Working the PWLC was the most amazing experience ever!!! The staff was exceptional and was there for me every step of the way. I had one particular woman that aided me in finding financial help. She never gave up on me and would check in on me almost daily! She was my guiding angel! Then there was Dr. Neichoy. He is the kindest soul and cares deeply for his patients. Before my surgery, this man came in and prayed with me! Then he went and prayed with my husband and son!! That was such a huge thing to me!! His beautiful nurse, Delynn, was absolutely amazing as well! The staff is top notch and I would highly recommend them!
What is your life like now? What’s the #1 thing you love being able to do now?
I can keep up with my kids and not hurt!! My body likes me again – lol!! I can tie my shoes and not run out of air, sit in the chair with my legs up in the chair, sit on the bathroom countertop with my feet in the sink and talk to my sister on the phone like a teenager again! On trips in the car, I can turn around or crawl to the back to help my son without a struggle. I have bought smaller clothes and love the person I see in the mirror! Life after surgery is amazing!!
