Meet Jill G.
What was life like before bariatric surgery?
Being overweight was a huge challenge for me. I had no energy. I couldn’t keep up with my kids. I couldn’t do fun things like roller coasters, water slides or hikes. Buying clothes was frustrating and I was self conscious about photos.
If you put off the decision to come in for a long time, why was that? What kept you from booking a consultation?
After having my last baby in 2016, I tried losing weight with exercise & changes my diet. I lost about 50 lbs and then plateaued. My doctor recommended I look into weight loss surgery but we ended up moving & then COVID shut everything down so it was in the back of my mind for a few years. In June 2023, I hit 328 lbs which was my heaviest weight ever. I realized that if I didn’t do something to change my lifestyle & lose at least 100 lbs I was headed for serious health problems like diabetes & heart problems. I talked with my FNP & got a referral for surgery.
What was it like to work with the team from the start of your journey to today?
From the first visit, I was really happy with the team at PWLC. Dr Nichoy explained the surgical options very clearly and answered all my questions. The billing department explained the costs and payment options and it was very easy to understand. The pre-op steps were simple and easy to follow. The educational videos were helpful & easy to complete. I felt adequately prepared for surgery & the post op support was excellent.
In less than six months, I lost over 100lbs. I have gone from a 3X to an XL. I love being able to shop at Walmart & Old Navy & not have to pay a fortune for clothes. I have so much more energy than before and I can move so much easier than before.
