Meet Genie C.
What was life like before bariatric surgery?
My weight stopped me from doing a lot of things physically. If I wanted to get on the floor to play with my granddaughter, I would have to try to figure out how to get up off of the floor or would have to make sure someone else was there to help me get up. My body was constantly hurting. Medical problems that I struggled with were high blood pressure, sleep apnea, high triglycerides, and anxiety and depression.
If you put off the decision to come in for a long time, why was that? What kept you from booking a consultation?
I considered and researched surgery for about 2 and a half year. I think what finally made me decide to go for it, that my first granddaughter was born. I had so much trouble getting up off of the floor when I would play with her! When she started crawling, I decided it was time. I realized that I wasn’t going to be able to keep up with her and the main thing was….I want to be around long enough to see her grow up, get married, and have children of her own.
What was it like to work with the team from the start of your journey to today?
From day one, the PWLC team was great! They were super informative a calmed any fears and answered any questions that my husband and I had.
What is your life like now? What’s the #1 thing you love being able to do now?
I love being able to chase my granddaughter!!!! I can do it without getting winded! I can cross my legs!! I can go for walks without hurting….and I can breathe!
