Meet Doug B.

What was life like before bariatric surgery?
Before undergoing bariatric surgery, my life was profoundly affected by my weight of 363 pounds. I found myself unable to fully enjoy life, play with my grandkids, or assist my wife with household tasks. Additionally, I struggled with health issues, including diabetes, high blood pressure, and kidney disease.

If you put off the decision to come in for a long time, why was that? What kept you from booking a consultation?

I had contemplated the idea of undergoing surgery for several years; however, my insurance did not cover the procedure at that time. It was only when my insurance coverage changed and began to include bariatric surgery that I decided to take action. The constant fatigue and exhaustion I experienced pushed me to finally pursue the surgery, and it all came together seamlessly.

What was it like to work with the team from the start of your journey to today?

My experience with the PWLC team has been exceptionally positive. They made the entire process incredibly straightforward and provided unwavering support every step of the way. Importantly, their commitment did not end with the surgery itself; they have continued to be there for me in the post-operative phase, demonstrating a genuine and caring approach to patient care.

What is your life like now? What’s the #1 thing you love being able to do now?

Today, my life has undergone a remarkable transformation. I can now play with my grandkids without experiencing exhaustion, and I take great pleasure in assisting my wife with various household tasks. Moreover, I no longer need to take two different types of insulin daily, which has significantly improved my quality of life. I am relishing the newfound energy that allows me to engage in a wide range of activities and enjoy life to the fullest.
