Meet Lisa M.
What was life like before bariatric surgery?
Before my surgery , I was not able to do things like I used to enjoy doing, working out, walking long distance, ride a bike. I was in constant pain in my knees and back. I was an athlete in the past and tried everything and well.. Years come and go and I was at that age that no matter what I tried, it still didn’t
help.
If you put off the decision to come in for a long time, why was that? What kept you from booking a consultation?
For about 8 years I put off the weight loss surgery and wasn’t sure where to start. I heard so bad rumors about weight loss surgery and how it was “lazy” and the “easy” way out of doing things. Which I know now is not true.
I went through a really bad break up and realized that I wasn’t valuing myself. I was taking care of others rather than myself. Then I thought to myself, who is going to take care of me? No one but myself. So I did the work to get approved no matter how long it took. I know I had to do it for myself and my wonderful son.
What was it like to work with the team from the start of your journey to today?
From the very beginning, working with Panhandle Weight Loss Team, it was wonderful!! Everyone was
kind, nice, informative, and patient. I couldn’t ask for a better facility to work with and a HUGE shout out to
Dr. Blue, who is the most endearing and professional Dr. I have ever worked with!! He really cares about
his patients.
What is your life like now? What’s the #1 thing you love being able to do now?
I am able to workout 5 days a week now without knee or back pain. I am able to ride my mountain bike 2-4
miles a day. I went on a hike in Trinidad, Colorado and reached the top without any pain or discomfort. I
learned how to eat better and strive to be in my goal weight soon.
