Recently joining the Panhandle Weight Loss team, Registered Dietician Nutritionist (RDN) Mia Mendez provides nutrition counseling designed to educate, prepare, and empower patients for their weight loss journey.
Mia obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nutritional Sciences and Dietetics from Texas Tech University and will graduate with her Masters in Nutritional Sciences in May 2016. Completing her Dietetic Internship through Texas Tech University, Mia gained experience in clinical practice of dietetics, community practice of dietetics, and has developed education material specializing in diabetic, cardiac, renal, cancer, pediatric, bariatric, celiac's,gastrointestinal, and sports nutrition.
Prior to joining the Panhandle Weight Loss team, Mia provided nutrition counseling to prenatal and postpartum women, infants, and children who were at high-risk for nutritional deficiencies at the Women's, Infants & Children Nutrition Program (WIC) in Amarillo.
Mia is dedicated to helping patients create lifestyle changes that will improve their overall heath before and after surgery and provide nutritional support specific to all types of bariatric surgery.
